Penalty Kick Technique – Master the Perfect Shot!

When practicing the presented penalty kick technique, make sure you approach the ball the same way every time – whether you’re aiming for the right or left corner of the goal. Consistency is the key to success!

A particularly important aspect is your run-up. It should always remain the same. Whether it’s short, as shown in the video, or slightly longer – that’s entirely up to you. The most important thing is that it feels natural and fits your rhythm.

Another crucial factor is mental preparation. Visualize the situation beforehand – following the example of Jack Nicklaus, the most successful golfer of all time. He once said:
“I never hit a shot, not even in practice, without having a very clear picture of it in my mind.”

Apply this winning strategy to your penalty kicks and imagine the ball going perfectly into the net. With this approach, you’ll step up with confidence and score successfully!

How to Score the Best Penalty Kicks?

The Sports University of Cologne has conducted a scientific study on penalty kicks and identified the key factors and success probabilities based on an analysis of 80 studies.

Here are some important facts:

1. Think carefully about your strategy before taking the shot.

2. Be aware that the safest penalty is the one shot into the upper third of the goal.

If you hit it correctly, the goalkeeper has almost a 0% chance of saving it. Only 13% of professional players choose this option.

3. 30% of shots are aimed at the middle third and 57% at the lower third.
These techniques are far more popular but also riskier, as the goalkeeper anticipates them.

4.Be aware that right-footed players usually aim for the left corner from their perspective.
Maybe try the other side.

5. Be aware that left-footed players usually aim for the right corner from their perspective.
Maybe try the other side.

6. A red jersey worn by the shooter often unsettles the goalkeeper.

7. Don’t let the goalkeeper’s movements unsettle you. Focus on your shot from start to finish.
