Free kicks

The free kick technique, as shown, is one of the training standards. A free kick performed from the distance of around 16 meters by a player that has mastered it can be almost as deadly as a penalty kick. The ball, kicked with the inner part of the foot, below its gravity center, flies a unique trajectory. Kicked from the bottom, the ball deviates from the neutral trajectory by spinning on the fly and, thus, descending faster. To understand this trajectory, note the players’ moves in tennis: a ball hit from the bottom with a racket can spin with a speed of up to 5,000 RPM.

Before striking the ball don’t forget to visualize the kick. As Jack Nicklaus, the best golfer of all time, put it: I never hit a shot, not even in practice, without having a very sharp, in-focus picture of it in my head. This and other inspiring quotes you can find in the section Motivation.
