Your attitude. Your game. Your path.

What makes your game unmistakably yours?

I AM I. I am myself. I know my worth. I take responsibility for my path.

YouNr1 begins with you: with your ambition, your story and the decision to develop your possibilities. You bring your personality into the game. You learn, experiment and step onto the pitch with purpose.

Three words. A clear position. Your game develops a signature of its own.

Your story is part of your game

You bring more than technique onto the pitch. There are the people who have supported you. Your first ball. The coach who saw something in you. The defeat you came back from. The joy of a movement that suddenly works.

All of this belongs to your path. Take it with you. Know the experiences you can draw on and the goals you want to work towards today. Your story gives your development a personal meaning.

I AM I means: I stand by what makes me who I am. And I help shape who I become.

Learn from the best. Play as yourself

Watch great players closely. Their awareness. Their timing. Their composure on the ball. The courage to see a gap and use it. Take an idea into your own training and test how you can use it in your game.

Your strength grows where observation and personal experience come together. You develop a feel for your body, your decisions and the possibilities of your position. A feint takes on your rhythm. A pass takes on your timing.

This is how your own signature emerges: open to good role models, attentive to feedback and supported by your abilities. With every attempt, you learn more precisely what you can give to the game.

Wear what you stand for

A word on your sports bag. A symbol in your notebook. A bracelet that accompanies you through the day. Such things can represent a decision you have made for yourself: I keep going. I play with courage. I keep my word.

I AM I connects that symbol with your attitude. Give it a meaning that fits you. Think of a specific experience when you took responsibility. A moment when you became active again despite a setback.

With each such experience, you continue writing your story. You carry it in your decisions, in how you conduct yourself and in what you do for others.

I AM I. Now

The game is underway. A challenge is over, a pass has gone wrong, a chance is open. Bring your phrase to mind: I AM I.

Find your bearings. Let your breath flow. Lift your head. See the space, the ball and your teammates. Choose the next task and carry it out.

You can connect your phrase with a short cue: “Head up.” “See the space.” “Play cleanly.” Choose words that lead to a clear action for you, and try them in training.

Your reference point is the next action. That is where your attitude becomes visible.

A strong individual takes responsibility within the team

You know your strengths and contribute them. You ask for the ball when you can help. You work to create the next free space. You listen and speak clearly. You give your teammates the same opportunity to show their strengths.

Responsibility is particularly visible when things become difficult. Making yourself available again after a mistake. Supporting a teammate. Taking on a task. Looking for a solution together.

YouNr1 connects personal development with respect and cooperation. Your independence and your contribution to the team grow together.

Make your development visible

Choose an ability you want to develop and describe a specific situation in which you want to use it. Plan the next attempt. Record what you learn.

Perhaps you want to look up earlier before receiving the ball. Perhaps you want to make yourself available more quickly after a mistake. Perhaps your game needs more courage in a particular situation. Give your task a form you can observe.

After training, ask: Did I recognise my task? Did I act? What was already better? What will I practise next? Your personal development path grows from these answers.

Your symbol. Your path

I AM I stands for confidence with responsibility. For ambition with direction. For the willingness to help shape your own development every day.

You stand on the pitch as the person you are today. With your strengths, your experiences and the possibilities you will continue developing. Show yourself. Learn. Play.

I AM I. YouNr1. Your next step begins with you.

Background on short cue words in sport

Sport psychology studies self-talk as a trainable strategy. Viscosi and colleagues studied 20 male youth footballers performing a passing task under pressure. In that experiment, a combination of emotion-related and action-related words proved particularly helpful.

Other studies examined personalised motivational words in 37 competitive swimmers and cues using the athlete’s own name in 18 track-and-field athletes performing a grip-strength task. These findings relate to the particular tasks and interventions studied.
