WHY DO WE REALLY GAIN WEIGHT?

Some say we gain weight because of too much fat, others blame carbohydrates. But recent research reveals that the real culprit is processed food! Why? Our nerve cells send signals to the brain about how many calories we’ve consumed. Processed products interfere with this mechanism. For example, when we eat sugar, honey, or maple syrup, our body tastes sweetness and expects energy in the form of calories. But with artificial sweeteners, we taste sweetness — yet the body receives no energy. So what happens next? The body tells us to keep eating because it believes it still needs energy.

Processed foods disrupt natural signals

Processed foods are often made from ingredients that don’t naturally occur together. Look at natural products: fatty foods aren’t sweet — and sweet foods aren’t fatty. But junk food combines both flavors. This disrupts the gut-brain signals that would otherwise regulate our appetite naturally.

WHY IS THIS A PROBLEM?

Scientists say processed foods act somewhat like a drug: they don’t bring satisfaction but rather a craving for more. Have you ever been satisfied with just one cookie, one piece of chocolate, or a single French fry? Probably not!

WHAT SHOULD YOU EAT?

Unprocessed foods come directly from plants or animals. So eat more vegetables, seeds, eggs, cheese, or meat. The best preservation methods are freezing, drying, or pasteurizing — these don’t require added sugar, fats, or salt. Base your diet on natural foods and enjoy processed ones only occasionally.

Remember: If the food industry realizes that we prefer natural products, they’ll adapt their offerings. We just need to show them what we truly want!
